Your Body Is Trying To Tell You Something, Are You Listening?

Imagine feeling vibrant, confident, and energized every single day.

Imagine waking up feeling fully rested and ready to tackle the day. Imagine having confidence in your day-to-day nutrition decisions. Imagine what it might feel to show up in the world as the healthiest, most vibrant version of you.

It’s not a dream, it’s within your reach.

2024 is the year to break free from the relentless cycle of pushing our bodies to the limit, compromising our health, and feeling drained day after day. Instead of fighting against our bodies, hormones, and metabolism, let’s embark on a journey of self-discovery and health restoration.

Today, I’m going to guide you through the transformative process of learning to recognize, listen, and respond to the six cues your body gives you every day that bring balance to your metabolism, hormones, and health.

The Cost of Ignoring Our Bodies

We’ve all fallen prey to the “do whatever it takes” mindset, sacrificing sleep, grabbing convenient, unhealthy meals, and neglecting our well-being for the sake of our busy schedules. In this race against time, we unknowingly damage our metabolism, compromise our immune system, and set ourselves on a path of exhaustion. It’s time to pause, reflect, and change the narrative.

The Power of Listening

The key to restoring our health lies in our ability to recognize and respond nourishingly to the six essential cues our bodies give us daily around stress, sleep, mood, hunger, energy, and cravings. In my program, RESTORE, I teach women how to align their body, mind, and spirit by connecting the dots between how they feel and what they do. Paying attention and gathering intel on your current stress level, the quality of your sleep, your mood and how it fluctuates, your hunger and cravings, and where your energy levels are is like gathering golden nuggets of wisdom that have the power to shape the trajectory of your metabolic health.

We call these cues your body’s biofeedback in the health and wellness field.

Think about it…

When stress and anxiety feel high, your mood is low, you’re having trouble sleeping, you’re starving all the time, and you crave sugar like the cookie monster at a dessert bar, or you have no energy—your biology is telling you something.

How to get started

Reflect on and rank these six biofeedback markers

Stress Level (1 low stress—10 high stress)
Sleep (1 sleeping well—10 not sleeping well)
Mood (1 low mood—10 great mood)
Hunger (1 low hunger—10 high hunger)
Energy (1 low energy—10 high energy)
Cravings (1 low cravings—10 high cravings)

What your biofeedback scores could be telling you

High stress increases cortisol levels, signaling the body to store belly fat and compromise the immune system. Chronic stress leads to poor sleep, excessive hunger, cravings, and reliance on quick fixes like sugar, salt, fat, and alcohol.

Mood serves as an indicator of hormonal balance. Low mood may suggest attention to gut health, unstable blood sugar, or cortisol imbalances.

Poor sleep disrupts the parasympathetic nervous system, affecting rest, digestion, and recovery. Compensatory responses include excess hunger, mood swings, poor decision-making, and elevated sugar levels.

Hunger between meals may indicate insufficient nutrient-dense calorie intake. Overconsumption or persistent fullness signals potential issues with hunger and fullness hormones.

Cravings offer valuable information for troubleshooting health issues. For instance, salt cravings may suggest adrenal fatigue, while sugar cravings could indicate a need for more calories, protein, or healthy fats.

Low energy levels may point to hormonal imbalances related to diet, stress, sleep, or other health issues.

Enough Talk, Let’s Take Action

We’ve become accustomed to ignoring our body’s signals, pushing through fatigue, cravings, and low mood to meet our daily responsibilities. It’s time to change that narrative. Learning to assess our biofeedback data empowers us to create action plans that align with our daily decisions, steering us toward metabolic health and overall well-being.

Once you evaluate and rank your biofeedback markers, choose one or two of the lowest scores to hone in on. Explore and experiment by trying a few small, manageable health shifts that you think have the potential to improve and bring balance to your low scores.

Work on improving one piece of biofeedback at a time, and remain curious, courageous, and compassionate. Every shift you explore is an opportunity to learn what does or does not work for you. As you bring each piece of biofeedback into balance, your metabolism, hormones, and heath will respond with energy, vitality, and the bonus of once again, burning stored fat for fuel, which results in landing at your healthy body weight.

Conclusion

It’s time to prioritize your health, reconnect with your body, and embrace a restorative approach that harmonizes your mind, body, and spirit.

By listening to your body’s cues, you’ll transition from compromising your well-being to becoming the healthiest, most joyful version of yourself. Vibrancy, confidence, and energy await! It’s time to knock your life out of the park and embrace the radiant, balanced life you deserve.
